Value Stream Mapping (VSM)
DVIRC’s VSM process is ideal for any business looking to identify and remove or reduce waste in its daily operations. VSM is a flowchart method to illustrate, analyze, and improve the steps required to deliver a product or service. A fundamental aspect of Continuous Improvement, VSM reviews the flow of process steps and information from origin to delivery to the customer.
By using the VSM process, DVIRC helps clients detail each significant process step and evaluate how it’s adding value—or not adding value—to the customer, enabling clients to compete more effectively in the market. Lean practitioners can effectively use VSM to produce the most value for the customer in the most efficient way possible. Our VSM process allows you to see not only the waste, but also the source of the waste.
The DVIRC Difference
Since 1988, DVIRC’s VSM model has saved hundreds of manufacturers billions of dollars. Our Continuous Improvement experts use VSM to review the flow of process steps and information from point of origin to delivery and can rapidly identify key areas of waste or quality issues eroding margins and preventing topline growth. We work with our clients to identify the particular area of focus within the business, create a project charter to establish goals and objectives, and work on-site using a five-step methodology to systematically eliminate areas of waste.
- Setting clearly defined organizational objectives (“The Vital Few”)
- Increased clarity around Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Alignment across key teams within the organization
- Elimination of bottlenecks and freed up capacity
