Position Overview
DVIRC is seeking a Health Hazard & Risk Assessment Analyst to support project work within the Department of War, formerly the Department of Defense. This position is a remote position with an in-office option if candidate resides in San Antonio, Texas.
This role provides critical subject-matter expertise to ensure health hazards and safety risks associated with Soldier equipment and evaluation events are identified early, documented thoroughly, and communicated effectively to government leadership. The Analyst works collaboratively with DVIRC leadership, government stakeholders, engineers, evaluators, and research teams to strengthen health hazard assessment processes and improve Soldier safety outcomes.
What You Will Do
Health Hazard & Risk Analysis
- Analyze design data, test results, engineering documentation, user feedback, and event observations to inform comprehensive:
- Risk Reports
- Health Hazard Reports
- Hazard Assessment Reports
- Quality Control Assessments
- Health Hazard Release Notifications
- Health Hazard Confirmation Documents
- Evaluate emerging data to identify potential health hazards or safety impacts associated with Soldier systems and equipment.
Documentation & Reporting
- Draft identified hazards and recommended mitigation actions for inclusion in Health Hazard Release documentation prior to each USAMTEAC- or PEO Soldier SMD-sponsored event.
- Prepare clear, accurate, and actionable health hazard assessment documentation aligned with Army standards and processes.
- Maintain complete, audit-ready risk documentation to support compliance, decision-making, and program recordkeeping.
Event Support
- Provide on-site or remote support during Soldier equipment evaluation events.
- Collaborate with evaluators, engineers, and operators to gather real-time data related to safety concerns, system performance, and emerging risks.
Ongoing Risk Mitigation & Communication

- Identify and communicate risk mitigation opportunities during scheduled status briefings and interim updates.
- Support development of mitigation plans, corrective actions, and follow-on testing recommendations.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of health hazard and risk assessment methodologies across the program.
What We Are Looking For
- Experience with Army Health Hazard Assessment (HHA) processes, MIL-STD-882, or defense-related risk management frameworks.
- Background in human factors engineering, occupational health, biomedical science, industrial hygiene, systems engineering, or a related field.
- Ability to analyze complex technical data and synthesize findings into clear, government-ready reports.
- Experience supporting military equipment evaluation events or test operations preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, particularly in technical and risk-focused documentation.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and government stakeholders.
