As an economic development organization focused exclusively on the manufacturing sector, DVIRC received an award from the Department of Defense\u2019s (DoD) Office of Economic Adjustment (OEA) to help strengthen the capabilities and competitiveness of the region\u2019s small and mid-sized manufacturers (SMMs) critical to the economy* and our national security. Through the DOD OEA project\u2014known as the\u00a0Manufacturing USA Access Project<\/em>, or\u00a0MAP<\/em>\u2014 DVIRC is helping SMMs learn about and invest in Industry 4.0, (also known as Advanced Manufacturing Technologies, or AMTs), to improve their operations, and their workforce by establishing a Manufacturing Advisory Council.<\/p>\n

DVIRC has convened a diverse group of leaders to determine how best to support regional small and mid-sized manufacturers (SMMs) and catalyze a \u201cmanufacturing renaissance\u201d based in the Delaware Valley.<\/p>\n

Although the Advisory Council was formed to support the education and integration of new technologies \u2013 robotics, automation, digital analytics, cybersecurity, etc., \u2013 the members determined the most pressing issue to address are the current and future workforce challenges.
