The 2015 Manufacturing Summit was appropriately themed – Designing the Future! as keynote speaker and MIT professor Neri Oxman demonstrated what is possible when you mix art and science.
The Summit, held at the Simeone Automotive Museum, whose theme aligns well for U.S. Manufacturers – the “Spirit of Competition” . This year, keynote speaker Neri Oxman demonstrated what is possible when you mix art and science. Oxman combines breakthroughs in material science – such as 3D printing with design principles found in nature. She captivated the audience with numerous examples of developments – such as 3d printed glass.
Attendees also interacted with 35 exhibitors showcasing various regional manufacturing capabilities providing valuable networking opportunities. Participants attended 6 breakout panel sessions on business and market growth, continuous improvement, innovation & technology, and organizational learning & development. The event concluded with student capstone project presentations from Drexel, Temple, Villanova, and University of Pennsylvania. The students, representing the future pipeline impressed the audience drawing praise for their work and exceptional talents.
