History of STEM

Over the past several years, report after report has called for the need to transform America’s technological and scientific infrastructure and to increase the number of students pursuing STEM-related educational pathways as a critical element to maintaining the United States’ competitive position in the world. DVIRC’s involvement in STEM Education emerged as a result of our commitment to and leadership in Applied Engineering Technology education.

Over the past several years, DVIRC has been working with multiple institutions and organizations to make STEM Education a priority for the region. The current manifestation of that work is the collaborative effort that led to Greater Philadelphia’s Regional Compact for STEM Education, and the Pennsylvania STEM Initiative.
