Seegrid Corp., a manufacturer of robotic technologies for the movement of industrial materials based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, recently made a personnel change to improve its lean manufacturing capabilities. The company has appointed Michael Brueggman as its new Director of Quality to incorporate lean practices into its quality control.

This move can be seen as a response to the rapid expansion that Seegrid has recently experienced. The company appears to be looking to enhance its productivity without sacrificing quality in the wake of new business partnerships. Raymond Corp. and Linde Material Handling, two global industrial truck manufacturers, recently allied themselves with Seegrid.

David Heilman, Chief Administrative Officer for Seegrid, made note of this in announcing Brueggman's appointment.

"Brueggman's solid background in quality control will prove to be an integral piece in Seegrid's continuous commitment to providing the highest quality products to our customers," he said. "As our partnerships are strengthening and orders are increasing, it is essential to increase our operational capacity. We know that expansion is critical."

During the month of August 2011, a total of 89,300 individuals were employed in the manufacturing industry throughout the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, metropolitan area, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics
