Keystone Conference on Business & Policy
Presented by Keystone Business Magazine, the conference aims to unlock the power of public dialogue through a series of breakout sessions during which panel experts will engage with attendees to discuss the most important issues impacting Pennsylvania’s economy and businesses. Conference focuses on several important topics, including manufacturing.
Pennsylvania’s manufacturing base is almost as old as the United States itself, with its origins going back to entrepreneurs in the late 1700s and 1800s. During the industrial revolution, the state was known for high-volume manufacturing companies. But, as with many cities across the nation, Commonwealth experienced a post-war shift from a manufacturing-based to a service-based economy.
Unlike the smokestack factories of the past, however, today’s manufacturing is faster and more technologically driven, with particular strengths in chemicals, medical equipment, machinery, food processing and transportation equipment and parts. Panelists with industry expertise will examine ways in which the Keystone state can once again become a major player in the manufacturing arena.
