Manny Veloso

A Six Sigma Master Black Belt and Lean expert, Manny brings years of hands-on experience to his position as a DVIRC senior advanced manufacturing specialist. Manny is a highly successful change manager who helps companies begin and progress through their journey as they work towards a better model for manufacturing excellence. Serving as both a teacher and a mentor, Manny provides instruction and training through DVIRC’s Institute for World- Class Manufacturing®, and works on-site to assist manufacturers with Lean and Six Sigma implementation. In addition to his experience with Lean methodologies for manufacturing, Manny is also an expert on transactional Lean methods administration, scheduling, invoicing and other non-manufacturing functions.

Manny’s more than 25 years of experience includes over a decade of work with Trane Corporation in positions including manufacturing, engineering, quality and shop floor operations. During his time with Trane, he spent several years living and working in Asia implementing Lean into factories in Malaysia, China, Taiwan, Thailand and Egypt. Manny also has 10 years of experience in manufacturing consulting. He joined DVIRC in 2004.

Significant Accomplishments

  • Helped a manufacturer of temperature sensors implement Lean methodologies which resulted in a 100% increase in productivity a two-year period, as well as a 90% increase in output over five-years without the need for additional staff or space
  • Provided training to employees of a medical packaging company, enabling them to achieve Six Sigma Green Belt status. These employees were then successful in saving $140,000 through scrap reduction in a process area while freeing up 1020 hours of machine capacity. Additionally, $67,000 in scrap reduction was achieved in a setup area, first article inspection time was reduced by 50%, and a system was created to identify $300,000 in material variance.
  • Over a period of 18 months, Manny traveled monthly to the United Kingdom to support the Lean implementation of a manufacturer of industrial seals for aerospace, hydraulics and specialty applications.
