2015 MedTechWorld Medical Design & Manufacturing Conference

October 29, 2015
Tony Girifalco, Executive VP DVIRC

Veloso‘s presentation, entitled, “Reducing Cost and Time to Market for Customized Components” was part of the “Revolutionizing the Manufacturing Process through 3D Printing and Additive Manufacturing” session. He was also the chair for the session – From Concept to Hybrid Manufacturing: Discovering Workable Scale-Up Strategies.

Girifalco spoke on Industry 4.0, characterizing the 4th Industrial Revolution, first introduced by the Working Group on Industry at the Hanover Fair in Germany. This was taken a step further by a McKinsey report defining Industry 4.0 as “the next phase in digitization of the manufacturing sector driven by four (4) disruptions: big data, advanced analytics, human-machine interface and digital-to-physical transfer. His talk covered the history of industry, technological innovation, private & public investments, and demographics & workforce. Girifalco noted, “The tools and technologies surrounding industry 4.0 are permeating every manufacturing sector, providing unprecedented opportunities for small and middle-market U.S. manufacturers to compete in the global economy.”
